Job Description

A reputable restaurant and hospitality company is hiring skilled and creative Sushi Chefs for preparing high-quality sushi dishes, Japanese cuisine, and maintaining excellent food presentation standards. The ideal candidate should have practical experience in sushi preparation, seafood handling, Japanese food techniques, and kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare sushi, sashimi, rolls, nigiri, maki, and other Japanese dishes according to restaurant standards
  • Select, cut, slice, and prepare fresh fish, seafood, vegetables, rice, and sushi ingredients properly
  • Maintain high standards of food presentation, freshness, taste, and hygiene
  • Prepare sushi rice, sauces, garnishes, and specialty Japanese menu items
  • Ensure proper storage, labeling, and handling of raw seafood and kitchen ingredients
  • Monitor food quality, portion control, and kitchen cleanliness at all times
  • Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations strictly
  • Coordinate with kitchen staff, waiters, and restaurant supervisors for smooth operations
  • Assist in menu development and special sushi presentations when required
  • Maintain cleanliness of sushi counters, kitchen equipment, knives, and workstations

Requirements

  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience as a Sushi Chef / Japanese Cuisine Chef preferred
  • Good knowledge of sushi preparation, seafood handling, and Japanese cooking techniques
  • Skilled in knife handling, food presentation, and sushi rolling techniques
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Basic English communication skills preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, hygiene, and food quality
  • Team player with professional kitchen discipline
  • Experience in restaurants, hotels, fine dining, or Japanese cuisine kitchens is an advantage
