Job Description
We are seeking a qualified Railway Electrical Engineer to support the design, installation, operation and maintenance of electrical systems for rail / metro / rail‑infrastructure projects in Dubai. The ideal candidate will ensure that electrical engineering works — from traction power to signaling, power supply, MEP (mechanical‑electrical‑plumbing) systems, station/substation electrification — are planned and executed according to international standards, safety regulations, and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications for railway/metro systems (traction power, power supply, station electricals, signaling systems, etc.).
- Assist in planning and coordinating electrical works for new rail/metro infrastructure (stations, tunnels, depots, substations), including load calculations, earthing & grounding, wiring/cabling design, power distribution, backup power systems.
- Conduct site inspections and commissioning of electrical installations — ensuring compliance with safety standards, regulatory codes (UAE / international), and project quality specifications.
- Monitor progress, schedules, and budgets related to electrical works.
- Collaborate with civil, mechanical, signalling and MEP teams and contractors to coordinate integration of electrical systems with other disciplines.
- Perform testing, debugging, maintenance checks and troubleshooting of electrical and control systems in operational rail/metro environments.
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, commissioning reports, and project progress updates for management and stakeholders.
- Assist procurement and coordination of electrical materials, equipment, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Identify technical risks related to electrical and safety systems; propose mitigation plans, corrective actions or improvements.
- Ensure compliance with relevant UAE rail/metro regulations, international railway standards, safety & quality codes throughout project lifecycle.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
- 2–10 years (depending on seniority) of experience in electrical engineering — ideally in rail / metro / railway / transportation / infrastructure projects; or strong relevant experience in electrical works on large civil/MEP projects in UAE or other GCC countries.
- Solid knowledge of electrical power systems, distribution, earthing, MEP, safety standards, and familiarity with railway / metro electrical requirements (preferred but not always essential).
- Proficiency with engineering tools/software: AutoCAD (electrical drawings), electrical design/calculation tools, and common project management or CAD software.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, coordination skills, ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and under pressure.
- Good understanding of safety standards and ability to follow regulatory compliance for electrical and construction works.
- Willingness to work onsite (stations, tunnels, substations, construction sites) as required.
- Relevant certifications (if any) — e.g. electrical safety, project‑management, or specialized rail/transportation electrical credentials — are a plus.
