Laboratory Technician – Construction
Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Laboratory Technician – Construction to support material testing and quality control activities for construction projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting laboratory and field tests on construction materials, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct laboratory and field testing of construction materials such as concrete, soil, aggregates, asphalt, and steel
- Prepare samples and perform tests in accordance with approved standards and procedures
- Record, analyze, and report test results accurately and timely
- Ensure testing equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and stored
- Support quality control and quality assurance activities at site and laboratory
- Coordinate with site engineers and quality teams regarding testing requirements
- Identify non-conforming materials and report deviations
- Maintain laboratory records, logs, and test documentation
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental regulations
- Assist in audits, inspections, and project documentation
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field
- 2–5 years of experience as a laboratory technician in construction or materials testing
- Knowledge of construction material testing standards (ASTM, BS, AASHTO)
- Experience in concrete, soil, and aggregate testing
- Ability to read and understand technical specifications and test procedures
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience with field testing and site coordination
- Familiarity with UAE construction standards and local authority requirements
- Basic computer skills for reporting and data entry
- Experience working in UAE or GCC construction projects
