Accountant and Merchant Settlement Specialist

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant & Merchant Settlement Specialist to manage financial accounting, merchant settlements, and reconciliation processes. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate settlements, timely payouts, and compliance with financial and regulatory standards, particularly in payment processing environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily merchant settlements and payout processing
• Reconcile merchant accounts, transaction reports, and bank statements
• Monitor payment gateway transactions, fees, chargebacks, and refunds
• Maintain accurate accounting records and general ledger entries
• Prepare settlement reports and financial summaries for management
• Handle discrepancies, investigate variances, and resolve settlement issues
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements
• Coordinate with banks, payment processors, and merchants
• Support month-end closing and financial reporting activities
• Assist with audits and regulatory reporting

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3–6 years of experience in accounting and merchant settlement operations
• Strong knowledge of reconciliations, settlements, and transaction processing
• Experience with payment gateways, POS, or fintech platforms preferred
• Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail and accuracy

Preferred Skills

• Experience in FinTech, banking, or payment services industry
• Knowledge of chargebacks, refunds, and dispute management
• Understanding of UAE VAT and regulatory compliance
• Experience with ERP systems and settlement tools
• Professional certifications (CA, ACCA, CPA) are a plus
