Job Description

We are looking for an organized and knowledgeable School Librarian to manage library operations and support students and teachers in accessing educational resources. The ideal candidate will oversee book circulation, maintain library records, organize reading programs, and promote a culture of reading and learning within the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage library operations including cataloging, shelving, and circulation of books
  • Assist students and staff in locating books, reference materials, and digital resources
  • Maintain an updated and well-organized library inventory and database system
  • Promote reading habits through storytelling sessions, reading clubs, and library activities
  • Manage library budget, book procurement, and vendor coordination
  • Implement library policies, borrowing procedures, and usage guidelines
  • Ensure proper care, repair, and replacement of books and educational materials
  • Provide research assistance and teach library skills to students
  • Support teachers with learning resources for academic projects
  • Maintain a quiet, safe, and productive environment for reading and study
  • Plan events such as Book Fairs, Literature Week, and Author Visits

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Library Science / Information Science / Education or related field
  • 1–3 years of experience as a School Librarian (UAE experience preferred)
  • Proficiency in library management systems and MS Office
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong knowledge of children’s literature and educational resources
  • Ability to manage students with patience and a positive attitude
  • Fluency in English (must); Arabic/Hindi/Urdu is an advantage
  • Professional, friendly, and student-centered approach
